Job Description[1]. Endowed Professorship in Biomaterials and Regenerative Dental Medicine
The Department of Biomaterials and Regenerative Dental Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry invites applications for the Dr. Karen J. Ivers Endowed Professor in Biomaterials and Regenerative Dental Medicine. This distinguished position requires an eminent research scientist in the field of dental biomaterials and regenerative medicine, who will work with colleagues in the department and in the School of Dentistry to obtain funding, teach and train students, and provide innovative solutions and translational discoveries to enhance patient care in Maryland.

University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD), the world's first dental college, offers exceptional educational programs in oral health. As one of six professional schools at the University of Maryland, Baltimore's (UMB) 65-acre campus is part of a thriving academic health center that combines groundbreaking biomedical research and exceptional patient care. Close to 7,000 students and approximately 8,200 faculty and staff members make the university a powerful economic engine for the state and region. The Dr. Karen J. Ivers Endowed Professor Professorship in Biomaterial and Regenerative Dental Medicine will be based full-time at UMSOD.

Its state-of-the-art facilities contain more than 50,000 square feet of dedicated research space, creating a cutting-edge environment for UMSOD faculty members and their UMB colleagues from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and others. Adjacent to the Campus is the 14-acre University of Maryland BioPark, which fuels the commercialization of new drugs, diagnostics, and medical devices, enabling collaboration with more than 1,000 employees, including scientists and entrepreneurs.

The Department of Biomaterials and Regenerative Dental Medicine is advancing oral health and improving lives through research, teaching, and services. Its research focuses on regenerative dental medicine via stem cells, scaffolds, nanotechnology, and bioactive agents, as well as developing bioactive, therapeutic dental restorative and preventative materials for tooth restorations. Additionally, the department is educating and training the next generation of innovative researchers, clinicians, and educators. The department has three full-time faculty members with national and international reputations in the respective fields of research.

[3]. Job Description
The Dr. Karen J. Ivers Endowed Professor position is open to candidates at Associate or Full Professor, tenure-track rank in the field of dental biomaterials and regenerative medicine. The applicants for this endowed professorship will be outstanding translational research scientists in the field of dental tissue regeneration, including stem cells and bone regeneration, as well as dental biomaterials for tooth restoration and treating oral diseases such as caries and periodontal diseases. Candidates should have a strong record of funded NIH research with a history of collaborations in multidisciplinary teams. The endowed professor will be able to inspire undergraduate and graduate clinicians to undertake basic laboratory research, display a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education, and provide leadership in education, outreach, and service.
Qualifications
The position requires a PhD, DDS, or equivalent degree.
