Description
The Microsystems and Nanotechnology Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is searching for a postdoctoral researcher who is motivated to develop vapor phase deposition of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) for use in robust biofunctional interfaces. The development of chip scale assays for the accurate and sensitive measurements of biomarkers are critical to enable transformative point of care applications in personalized health care and drug discovery. To enable such applications, we develop bioelectronics measurements to identify and quantify biomarkers in solution. Our research utilizes CMOS device structures specifically designed and fabricated for biosensing. We are interested in developing robust interfaces to semiconductor devices in collaboration with our partners and stakeholders.
Requirements
We are interested in applications with the following minimum qualifications. Applicants should have experience and a strong interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Development and characterization of vapor phase deposition techniques such as CVD, MLD, or ALD.
- Expertise in surface spectroscopy such as ATR FT-IR, RAIRS/IRRAS, and spectroscopic ellipsometry for the characterization of interfaces, monolayers, and thin films.
- Basic experience in performing in situ process measurements during film deposition.
- Familiarity with surface chemistry of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs)
Candidates should be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences. They should have completed a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline and have demonstrated the ability to perform relevant research. NIST is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
