Salary Range:

$73,900 - $142,300

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a team-oriented, customer focused candidate who will serve as a Project Controller (PC) in organization 10458 (Global Security PM). This person will enjoy a challenging and fast paced environment for an exciting mission and have the opportunity to make an impact during the entire project lifecycle. They will provide dedicated support to the West End Protected Area Reduction project (WEPAR) under center 6500 and its primary customer, Consolidated Nuclear Security / Y12 site. Specifically, this position will partner with Control Account Managers (CAMs) and other technical staff to provide project controls support to plan and manage the scope; provide analysis and reporting of project status; both financial and schedule and reporting monthly to customers. This PC will be integrated with Sandia's sponsors and the technical work so they can identify schedule risks, time requirements and task dependencies.

WEPAR is a capital line-item construction project, follows DOE 413.3B, and is managed jointly with CNS. Sandia's Physical Security Center of Excellence (PSCOE, center 6500) is the construction manager and coordinates and manages all aspects of construction activities with multiple construction subcontractors. CNS is the project manager; therefore, Sandia's project control activities follow an established and rigorous EV process under CNS's system description and their reporting tool (Empower). The project controls team works closely with the CNS project controls team. As an integral member of the team, the Project Controller assumes responsibility for analysis and reporting associated with project controls activities, to include maintaining project schedules, cost control, cost estimation, projections, variance analysis, rigorous monthly reporting, risk and opportunity analysis, internal and external project reviews. The position offers the opportunity for travel 4-6 times a year.

This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus five or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of degree must be directly related experience that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:
  • Detail orientated and willing to follow the project weekly to keep critical project control functions consistent with Sandia business practices and work execution
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Experience with 413.3 capital line-item projects
  • Experience with construction projects
  • Experience with Earned Value Management
  • Experience working with subcontractors and implementing change orders into the project baseline
  • Familiarity with the accrual process for subcontractor work and understanding of the internal / external cost transfer process
  • Demonstrated use of Primavera (P6) Scheduling Software
  • Understanding of SNL's business processes, policies, and corporate suite of tools
  • Experience with standard project controls practices, such as scheduling, project plan development, resource management, cost management, risk management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks, perform under strict deadlines and changing priorities
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation, and decision analysis skills with attention to quality and detail
  • Willingness to engage and learn the day-to-day activities with the Sandia technical team while maintaining business independence
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining successful working relationships with technical staff and management, and partners at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills in the areas of writing, presenting and active listening
  • Ability to produce and present professional documentation to internal and external customers
  • Option for domestic travel to Y12 (Oakridge, TN) 4-6 times per year

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
