Baldor Electric Company is a leading marketer, designer and manufacturer of energy-saving industrial electric motors, mechanical power transmission products, adjustable speed drives and generator sets. The company was founded on the premise that a better motor is one that uses less electricity, a belief that stands true today.

Industrial motor products range from fractional to 100,000 horsepower and include AC, DC, gear, linear and servo motors from Baldor-Reliance® and ABB, and mechanical power transmission products include mounted bearings, enclosed gearing, and power transmission components from Baldor-Dodge® as well as bushings and sheaves from Baldor-Maska®. Generator sets include industrial towable, prime power, peak-shaving, emergency and standby generators and mobile light towers.

Baldor serves over 10,000 industrial customers globally, with half of sales to original equipment manufacturers and half to distributors for replacement purposes. These customers operate in a variety of process industries including chemical, oil and gas, food and beverage, pulp and paper, aggregate and cement, mining, paper and packaging, agriculture and water/wastewater.

The company was founded in 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri, and has been based in Fort Smith, Arkansas since 1967. On January 27, 2011, the company was acquired by ABB Ltd of Zurich, Switzerland. ABB is a public company and trades as ABB on the New York Stock Exchange.
